Fluidesign Composites Inc. is based in London, Ontario, Canada and has been producing quality racing shells since 2000.
Gord Henry, the owner and president, spent five years working in the boat building industry before starting Fluidesign. His experience also includes one year at a composite aircraft manufacturing company managing a single scull project. Considerable research went into the design of our shells.
A very popular existing shape was refined in the bow, stern, and at the water line. These changes produced a single that was more stable with improved hydrodynamics, reduced wetted surface and better maneuverability.
A flexible but durable carbon-fibre single skin, enabled the hull core to be removed making the shell far more durable, as the shell can not take on water and become soft. The single skin carbon-fibre decreases the maintenance required from every day use. In addition the slight flexibility of the shell removes some of the energy upon impact of waves and small objects alike.
A further advantage was gained by placing the rigger behind the rower.
This has enabled Fluidesign to become the fastest growing boat company in the world.
